Takasago hana - The breeze among the pines

The Takasago pine became very popular thanks to a famous Noh play from the fourteenth century. The optimistic work celebrates joy and happiness, just like this floral and sandalwood incense.

According to legend, the pines of the Takasago and Sumiyoshi temples represent the harmony between man and woman, who will remain united for eternity: “Though we live a thousand kilometres apart, separated by rivers and mountains... our hearts remain united.”

The play ends with a blessing: “I drive out demons, I embrace luck and happiness. Let’s celebrate a thousand years of prosperity and ten thousand years of long life. May the wind whistle happily through the pines for ten thousand years”.
