El uso del incienso se remonta a más de 5000 años atrás, en el antiguo Egipto y Nubia. Atravesó épocas y culturas y se introdujo en Japón en el siglo VI con el budismo. El incienso japonés no lleva palito de bambú: es todo sustancia fragante.

Su aroma refinado es para quienes gustan difrutar de fragancias sutiles y elegantes.

Producen menos humo que otros inciensos y algunos casi no emiten humo.

Su base es la corteza molida de tabu a la que se le añaden otras sustancias finamente molidas (maderas, especias, resinas...) o aceites esenciales.
