Zen Daitokuji Singing Bowl - 36 cm
Zen Daitokuji Singing Bowl - 36 cm
Code: MKJ36
Black bronze bowl used in zen temples.
Keizu also called daitokuji is the name given to the traditional bell monks use in Buddhist temples. Its sound accompanies the reading of sutras and daily ceremonies. The bell is invited by hitting the edge with the mallet, trying to find the right spot and angle to get the purest sound. Generally of a great size, its deep sound fills the whole meditation hall, allowing to quiet the mind and to harmonize the vibration of the group.
“When I listen to the bell, I can feel how my sorrow begins to dissolve, my mind calms down, my body gets relaxed. A smile appears on my lips. Following the sound of the bell, my breathing takes my back to the safe island of mindfulness.” Thich Nhat Hanh
