Mother-of-pearl is a precious material known since the beginning of time. It is produced by some molluscs to cover the inner part of their shell. Its colours and iridescent reflections are due to the different refraction indexes of the layers it’s made of. Mother-of-pearl is said to have soothing and protective properties, as it evokes maternal love and tenderness; it’s also meant to enhance the circulation of energy throughout the body.
