Peace Chime

Did you know that what is known today as the symbol of peace was designed in England in 1958 by Gerald Holtom to demonstrate against a nuclear weapons plant? It arises from the mixture of the letters N (nuclear, inverted V shape) and D (disarmament, vertical line) written in semaphore alphabet and placed inside a circle. The semaphore alphabet is the mode of body communication with flags that is used in the navy and aviation. Today it has become a universal symbol.
