A zafu is a meditation cushion. Tradition tells us that Buddha made a cushion from dried grass to sit on comfortably, inclining his pelvis forward while supporting his knees on the ground. Sitting as such, he found a steady and balanced posture that gave right amount of curve in his lower back.
We make zafus using extra strong cotton fabric. They have a little white strip where you can write your name.
Kapok is a natural product that comes from the seedpods of the Ceiba. The tree is native to tropical regions in Asia. Kapok is the classic stuffing for zafu pillows in Japan and it provides the perfect amount of firmness for a comfortable posture over a long period of time.
Should the zafu flatten over time, it can be laid out in the sun to recuperate its original shape.
